2024 US Election & Due diligence
According to a recent Financial Times newsletter article, titled Betting on Trump, Wall Street had significant stakes in the US election, with private equity giants hoping for the 2017 tax breaks to stay on, banks seeking to loosen capital and liquidity rules, and dealmakers hoping for restrained antitrust regulation.

The return of Donald Trump and possibly Republican control of both houses of Congress could fulfil these desires, paving the way for a 1980s-style golden age for deals largely driven by the marriage of Wall Street and Silicon Valley. If this is true, and with Trump in the White House, this is a very likely scenario, the M&A flood will soon start. But deregulations or loose regulations can also mean exposing deals to criminals. This is where high-level due diligence can help both sides.
